1. Information We Collect
GlobiSport collects the following types of information:
- Personal Information — your name, email address, physical address, location, contact information, payment details, and profile photos.
- Sporting Information — your sport(s), role, level, achievements, goals, training history, GS Score, GS Combine results, and other performance data. This is collected to match you with coaches, event organisers, and other relevant users, and to power personalised recommendations.
- User Content — content you post or share on the Platform, including community posts, highlights, and messages.
- Usage Data — how you use the Platform, such as pages visited and features used.
- Device Information — your IP address, browser type, and operating system.
- Cookies — essential cookies (required for the Platform to function), analytics cookies (to understand usage), and marketing cookies (only with your consent). You'll be shown a cookie notice allowing you to make an informed choice about non-essential cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and personalise the Platform.
- Connect you with other users — coaches, athletes, and institutions.
- Facilitate bookings and payments.
- Analyse Platform usage and improve its functionality.
- Communicate with you about the Platform (updates, notifications).
- Send personalised marketing communications, but only if you've opted in.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
We process your personal information on one of these grounds:
- Consent — where you've given explicit consent.
- Contract performance — where processing is necessary to provide a service you've requested.
- Legal obligation — where processing is required by law.
4. Sharing of Information
We may share your information with:
- Other users of the Platform, depending on your privacy settings — you control the visibility of your profile and its details.
- Service providers who help us operate the Platform (for example, hosting and payment processing). These providers are required to meet data protection standards equivalent to POPIA and GDPR.
- Law enforcement or government agencies, if required by law.
International transfers of your data only take place to countries with adequate data protection, or with your explicit consent.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure — including encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. In the event of a data breach, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected users within 72 hours.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for 3 years after account deletion, unless a longer period is required by law.
7. Your Rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to:
- Access your personal information.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
- Object to the processing of your personal information.
- Request the transfer of your personal information to another provider (data portability).
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
You can exercise these rights by contacting us using the details below. We will respond to your request within 21 days.
8. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not intended for children under the age of 18 to use unsupervised. A parent or guardian must create a linked guardian account and give consent before a minor's account is verified. Guardians approve bookings, control who can message the minor, and payment for a minor's sessions is routed through the guardian's account.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and/or a prominent notice on the Platform.
